Danish biotech Visibuilt has raised €3.34 million in a seed round co-led by EIFO and Unconventional Ventures, with Proptechfonden and returning investor EMDFonden also participating.

The startup’s visiBINDER is a mycelium-based binder designed to replace fossil bitumen and cement in roads and pavers — materials responsible for a meaningful share of the EU’s estimated €83 billion annual spend on fossil-based asphalt binder alone.

Visibuilt has already locked in industrial testing partnerships with Denmark’s largest concrete paver manufacturer, IBF, and Copenhagen Municipality, less than two years after founding.

Line Kloster Pedersen was running around Copenhagen’s lakes when she looked down at the soil and wondered why cities still glue roads together with oil, when fungi have been binding earth for millions of years. That question now has €3.34 million behind it.

Today, Visibuilt, the biotech she founded in 2023 with Oleksii Rebrov, has closed a €3.34 million seed round co-led by EIFO, Denmark’s state investment and export fund, and Unconventional Ventures, with participation from Proptechfonden and returning backer EMDFonden.
