However, she turned down free tickets to see the band in concert, declaring that she much preferred Cliff Richard and The Shadows.Jeremy was moved to tears this morning when guest Iain Dale told him that she had loved the programme - and loved him.'She loved coming on it. She loved your viewers and she loved you,' Mr Dale told him.'You were part of her family and she really spoke very highly of you, and I know you went out of your way to be kind to her.'Jeremy became visibly emotional on screen and his voice began to crack. He was then forced to look down and away from the camera as his eyes filled with tears.'Well, that is too much to hear today. Thank you so much, Ian,' Jeremy said.He added: 'We are involved here because, on the day of her death, this office was in touch with her by chance.' Jeremy Vine broke down on live TV today over the alleged murder of close friend and regular guest Ann Widdecombe The broadcaster became tearful when a guest said that Ann loved the show, its viewers and also him The former minister was a regular guest on the Channel 5 show, whose viewers enjoyed her common sense and sense of humour (pictured listening to Oasis for the first time last year)Ann Widdecombe gave a tour of her £600,000 Dartmoor home for a TV show broadcast just five days before she was allegedly murdered in her kitchen. The former minister and her bungalow in Haytor, Devon, featured on Quest's Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House.Ann gave host Angus Ashworth a guided tour of the property, telling him how much she loved the 'peace, quiet and solitude' of her Devon retreat. The episode, in which auctioneer Mr Ashworth and his team help famous faces clear their homes of clutter, was filmed in 2022 but broadcast on July 2.It came as the prime suspect in her murder was seen on CCTV climbing into his car with what appears to be a large baton bulging from his pocket on the day she was allegedly beaten to death.Ann showed Mr Ashworth around her garden, conservatory, gym, library, dining room and the kitchen where she was found fatally injured last week. The programme also featured the exterior of the house and its driveway.Ms Widdecombe poignantly described how happy she was to have retired to the home, close to 'the idyllic Devonshire coast'.'I came down here quite deliberately to be as remote as I could, as was sensible,' she said.'I've got what I want, which is peace, quiet, solitude. Of course, I'm friendly with some of the neighbours. I'm not a recluse.'While there is currently no suggestion that the TV pictures of her home led to her death, or inspired any attacker, a former counter-terrorism detective at Scotland Yard said that 'unscrupulous' individuals do target homes in this way.David Videcette, who investigated the 7/7 bombings said: 'This sort of thing is a real problem nowadays. There’re plenty of free tools for unscrupulous individuals to identify where you live from a photo or video, there’s even more when you’re prepared to pay.'
