Craig Revel Horwood is normally the one dishing out scathing comments on Strictly, but the judge admitted he was given a cruel one-word nickname after being publicly humiliated at school10:57, 13 Jul 2026Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood reveals he was once given a cruel nickname in a "public humiliation" after piling on the pounds.‌The BBC stalwart, 61, is perhaps more accustomed to dishing out harsh comments but he revealed he was on the receiving end of one such barb during his school days.‌Speaking on the Judgemental podcast, which he co-hosts with fellow Strictly judge Anton du Beke, they got to talking about the topic of "public humiliation".‌Craig joked that it is "what life is all about" before moving on to tell a mortifying story from his childhood about when he was publicly humiliated by his PE teacher.He said: "I remember when I was a kid, I came back from the Easter break and my PE teacher, because I'd eaten a lot of chocolate. I was quite a porky kid.‌"And when I came back from the break my PE teacher said: 'Craig, you've put on so much weight, I'm going to use you as an example, and you will take your shirt off, in front of the class, and you will run around the oval in front of the class so they all watch."I did it. And then I got a nickname after that."Understandably, Anton was keen to discover the nickname he was handed to which Craig simply responded: "T**s."‌Anton could not hide his amusement and burst into laughter. It comes after Anton shocked his co-star and friend with an admission.The former says he “doesn’t like the concept” of ordering a take away.His admission came as a surprise to Craig while Anton insisted his kids, nine-year-old twins George and Henrietta, never beg to have fast food either.‌He said: “I don’t like takeaways, I don’t like the principle of a takeaway. I don’t like the concept. It seems alien to me. I can’t bear all that stuff.”Anton admitted that when he was a youngster he might have had a Chinese take away but not now. Anton added: “I’d rather just go to a restaurant. No, it is not for me.”‌When Craig asked if the kids ever asked to order in a pizza, Anton replied: “Never even utter the words,” but went on to say he would not let them.By contrast Craig says a double pepperoni pizza is one of his downfalls when he is trying to keep weight off, admitting that he sometimes has to wear elasticated trousers.He said: “My guilty pleasure is double pepperoni pizza. It’s bad news because I keep buying them in the supermarket and I keep putting them in the oven and I keep eating them.Article continues below“I need to stop myself. I don’t do it all the time, only on special occasions.”
