Bajaj Consumer Care Limited reported its strongest quarterly performance in recent history, with consolidated net sales rising 28.3 per cent year-on-year to ₹341.4 crore in Q1 FY27, the company announced. Shares of the Mumbai-based personal care company touched a 52-week high of ₹692 intraday on the NSE before paring gains to trade at ₹664.80, down 0.81 per cent by mid-afternoon.The company’s EBITDA more than doubled, surging 101.2 per cent to ₹84.4 crore, with margins expanding sharply to 24.7 per cent from 15.8 per cent in the same quarter last year. Profit after tax rose 84.8 per cent to ₹70.7 crore, representing 20.7 per cent of net sales. Gross margins improved to 61.8 per cent from 56.7 per cent a year ago, driven by operating leverage and cost efficiencies.The flagship Bajaj Almond Drops Hair Oil brand posted domestic revenue growth in the 30s percentage range, with underlying volume growth in the early teens after adjusting for pack-size reductions. The company’s broader growth portfolio, which includes coconut oil and the recently integrated Banjara’s brand, also recorded sequential double-digit growth across most sub-categories. The Banjara’s integration — both financial and operational — has been completed, the company stated.On the distribution front, both General Trade and Organised Trade delivered growth in the high-to-strong twenties range year-on-year. The International Business staged a significant recovery, with focus markets Nepal and Bangladesh reporting sustained double-digit topline growth.Raw material pressures remain a watchpoint. Light Liquid Paraffin prices surged over 40 per cent sequentially in Q1, tracking a crude-linked spike, though the company expects corrections from July. Copra prices corrected over 20 per cent sequentially and appear to be stabilising.The stock has delivered a year-to-date return of approximately 150 per cent, against a negative 7.38 per cent for the Nifty 50 over the same period.
