Jimmy Kimmel paused his vacation to do a little trolling, mocking Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) over the “proof of life” image posted on Sunday. McConnell shared a photograph of himself in a hospital bed and holding a newspaper, with his wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, by his side. It was the first public message from McConnell since he was hospitalized on June 14, and was an attempt to reassure constituents amid growing calls for an update on his health. Kimmel, who has been away for nearly as long, signing off on June 18 for his annual summer break, cheekily sought to reassure his own fans that he, too, was doing well. “For those who’ve been asking, I’m feeling great,” Kimmel wrote alongside an image of his face inserted into McConnell’s picture: Unlike McConnell, Kimmel has been providing regular updates on social media, posting images of himself barbecuing, fishing and trying out Chicago pizza. Kimmel will return to his show after Labor Day. In the meantime, a series of guest hosts will be filling in. Comic/actor Ike Barinholtz will take the mic this week.
