The Nigerian Army has buried Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, the young officer who lost his life while leading troops during the operation that secured the release of teachers and pupils abducted from schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Isaac, 28, was laid to rest with full military honours at the 23rd Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, on July 10, 2026.

The officer, who was born on August 25, 1997, died during the military operation that eventually led to the rescue of the victims.

The freed teachers and pupils regained their freedom on July 10 after spending 56 days in the custody of their abductors.

Following the operation, the Nigerian Army disclosed that some members of the security forces were killed, although it did not immediately reveal the identities or number of personnel who died.
