International Maritime Organisation Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez has condemned the attacks on several ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz over the past few days. He called for maximum restraint and de-escalation in the region. Hundreds of ships with around 6,000 seafarers remain stranded in the Persian Gulf since the beginning of the conflict in West Asia.“I regret that once again I am compelled to speak out following attacks on commercial ships and innocent seafarers due to geopolitical circumstances beyond their control,” he said. “These reckless attacks have again placed innocent seafarers in grave danger. No seafarer should have to risk their life simply for doing their job,” he said. The attacks intensify the fear, uncertainty and psychological strain endured by the stranded seafarers, he said.DP World’s growing truck fleet for GCCDP World has acquired 700 trucks to expand its road freight network in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and offer customers greater reliability and efficiency in moving cargo across the region. The investment is part of the company’s long-term strategy to build an integrated logistics network that connects ports and terminals, economic zones and digital platforms to provide end-to-end solutions across the supply chain. The fleet will add up to 35,000 truck trips a month, supporting domestic and cross-border trucking for DP World’s customer base in the GCC. The fleet will cater to first-, middle- and last-mile requirements and support the movement of containerised and non-containerised cargo, says a release.Published on July 13, 2026
