Leandro Trossard is close to agreeing personal terms with Besiktas before completing a potential transfer from Arsenal.The Athletic reported on July 4 that a €20million (£17.1m, $22.9m) deal — comprising an €18m fee and €2m in add-ons — had been agreed between the two clubs, with wages up to around €9m.As discussions between the player and the Turkish club continue, final paperwork around the transfer is now being prepared. The move could be completed this week.The 31-year-old forward is close to signing a three-year deal with Besiktas, with the option of an additional 12 months. He will earn €7m (£5.9m; $7.9m) per year.Trossard, who was a regular for the Premier League title-winners last season, had one year left on his contract at Arsenal. In August 2025, he agreed new terms which included a significant pay rise but did not extend his stay at the Emirates beyond the already-set expiry of 2027.The forward was a part of Belgium’s 26-man team which reached the quarter-final of the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He started all six games for Rudi Garcia’s side, scoring twice in the 5-1 group-stage win over New Zealand. In that game, he also provided an assist, as he did in the following games against Senegal and the USMNT.Trossard made 50 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal during 2025-26, scoring eight goals — including a crucial winner against West Ham United during the run-in — and assisting 11 as his side won their first top-flight title since 2004, while also reaching the Champions League final.He was a regular member of Mikel Arteta’s squad since joining Arsenal in a £27m ($35.8m) deal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. He made 174 appearances, contributing 36 goals and 34 assists, primarily operating on the left but providing a central option when Arsenal were affected by injuries.He joined Arsenal after a successful first half of 2022-23 with Brighton, in which he scored seven goals, including a hat-trick against Liverpool in a 3-3 draw.
