A Texas Instagram model accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend has asked a judge to allow key evidence to be presented to jurors during her upcoming trial to prove that she allegedly acted in self-defense. Courtney Clenney, 30, has been charged with second-degree murder after her cryptocurrency trader boyfriend, Christian Obumseli, 27, was found dead inside their luxury Miami apartment on April 3, 2022. While she awaits the start of her trial next month, Clenney's attorneys are seeking to introduce medical records, text messages, eyewitness testimony, police bodycam footage, security reports, and other evidence that they say supports Clenney's claim that she acted in self-defense that day, according to a new motion obtained by People. The motion, which was filed on Tuesday, asks jurors to consider the defense's account of Clenney and Obumseli's relationship before deciding whether or not she was trying to protect herself from danger, the filing said, according to the report. According to her lawyers, the proposed evidence will show that their client was in an abusive relationship. The filing specified that her legal team has plans to bring a pair of domestic violence experts to the stand, as well as the presentation of text messages that they say prove Clenney's story of alleged domestic abuse. One of the proposed messages, from April 2021, showed that Clenney accused her late boyfriend of hitting her 'in my face as hard as you could', the New York Post reported. In response, Obumseli didn't appear too fazed, telling Clenney that he was only trying to move her hand and 'really didn't mean to,' according to the outlet. She was covered in blood from head to toe, wearing drenched sweatpants as she said: 'I can't let this happen, it wasn't me' as police pulled her hands behind her back and handcuffed her. While talking to police as paramedics tried to save Obumseli, she told them: 'I'm terrified of him' and 'I was so scared,' the footage showed. 'I am covered in his blood because I was trying to save him... I need him, he was my other half,' Clenney said.
