The Indian National League (INL) has asked the Congress leadership to clarify whether the “special consideration” allegedly being extended by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan to Sangh Parivar leadership and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliated organisations and individuals reflects a shift in the Congress party’s ideological position.In a statement issued on Sunday (July 12, 2026), INL State general secretary Kasim Irikkur alleged that the Chief Minister was undermining the secular values long upheld by Kerala society.He claimed that while organisations such as the Nair Service Society (NSS), Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, Samastha and the Waqf Protection Committee had been denied permission to meet the Chief Minister, leaders of the Hindu Aikya Vedi were recently invited to his office, where they met him, took photo and their demands were given due consideration. Mr. Irikkur said the Chief Minister’s generous response to the demands they raised exposed the ugly face of the “new Kerala” controlled by the Sangh Parivar.Calling for intervention by the Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF) leadership, the INL urged them to prevent, what it described as, a “dangerous course” being pursued by the Chief Minister. It also asked the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leadership to restrain the party’s Ministers who, it alleged, were supporting the Chief Minister’s ideological deviations.
