Utility back Luan Giliomee will be one of the key players for the Junior Springboks in their semi-final clash against England on Monday evening in Georgia.
Avoiding another slow start while finding the right balance between keeping the ball in hand and deploying their kicking game will be at the top of the Junior Springboks’ priority list when they face England in the semi-final of the Junior World Championship in Tbilisi on Monday.
The South Africans, coached by Kevin Foote, allowed Wales to race into a 14-0 lead in their final pool match last week, but they know they cannot afford a repeat against the English, who are expected to provide an even sterner challenge in the Georgian capital (6.30pm kick-off).
It will therefore be a case of striking the right balance from the outset — starting quickly while limiting the errors that could allow England’s U20s to build an early advantage.
Captain Siphosethu Mnebelele says the team has focused on what they need to do to start well and has taken valuable lessons from the Welsh encounter into the semi-final.
