NewsUK NewsNorth WalesA teenage girl has died suddenly after suffering from a 'severe medical emergency' while on the site of the festival in North Wales today10:11, 12 Jul 2026Updated 10:13, 12 Jul 2026The organisers of a music festival in North Wales say they are "deeply saddened" after the sudden death of an 18-year-old girl prompted them to cancel the event.‌Emergency services raced to Tonnau Festival, on the site of Carreglwyd Estate, near Llanfaethlu, in North Wales, at 1.45am this morning (Sunday, July 12) to reports of a teen in a "medical emergency".‌Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 18-year-old sadly died in hospital.‌In a statement, festival organisers have addressed the tragedy this morning. They said: "Everyone at Tonnau Festival is deeply saddened to confirm that a festival attendee tragically passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning following a severe medical emergency."Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the attendee’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.‌"From the moment the attendee became unwell, our on-site welfare teams, security, and emergency medical staff responded immediately."Paramedics and welfare personnel did everything they could to provide emergency care, but unfortunately they later died in hospital."The safety and well-being of our audience is always our highest priority. Following this tragedy, and to allow emergency services and local authorities to conduct their necessary work, we made the decision to close the remainder of the festival and have asked people to vacate the site when it is safe for them to do so.
