VISAKHAPATNAM: 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolts Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Sunday, triggering brief panic as residents felt mild tremors.The earthquake struck between 5.06 am and 5.07 am, with people in areas including Madhurawada, Kommadi, East Point Colony, MVP Colony, Pedawaltair, Madhavadhara and Muralinagar reporting vibrations. Many residents rushed out of their homes as the ground shook for a few seconds.According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremors were caused by a 4.5-magnitude earthquake.Some residents said they felt their beds and windows shake briefly before the tremors subsided.No casualties or damage to property have been reported so far.Residents recalled experiencing similar mild tremors in the city on 4 November 2025.
