The FRSC officer had reportedly died in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, after a brief illness.
The abductors reached the family, demanding N450million for the victims to regain their freedom, Daily Trust reports.
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted the remains of a late Deputy Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Augustine Ikwue, including the mourners accompanying him to his hometown at Otukpo in Benue State.
The vehicle was conveying the corpse to Otukpo when it ran into an ambush along Ochadamu-Ejule road in Ofu local government of Kogi state around 6pm, on Thursday.
