The US military has launched new missile and drone strikes on Iran, claiming to have hit 140 military targets in the third round of attacks in a week.
Tehran said it had also targeted US facilities in states across the Gulf, declaring that it had closed the Strait of Hormuz again after Iran’s military attacked a vessel in the critical waterway.
A series of attacks between the US and Iran in recent days led Donald Trump to declare the end of the ceasefire meant to halt the Middle East conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February.
US Central Command (Centcom) said the fresh US strikes on Sunday, ordered by Trump, were launched after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked a container ship.
Centcom said it had hit missile and drone launch sites, ammunition depots, communication equipment and other military sites.
