At least 4,118 people were killed, and 16,740 were injured as a result of two consecutive earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24.

According to Ukrinform, The Guardian reported this, citing a statement by the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez.

The devastating earthquakes leveled entire neighborhoods in the coastal state of La Guaira. Thousands of people are still missing.

Although rescue teams have suspended their search for survivors, relatives continue to comb through the rubble in search of their loved ones.

On Friday, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake in central Caracas caused brief panic and led to evacuations from buildings.
