The Ukrainian Bulgarian media outlet Bessarabian Front (Бесарабски фронт) has released footage showing the activities of the Bulgarian drone unit known as Bolgarichi (Болгаричи), which is carrying out combat missions against Russian forces in southern Ukraine, OFFNews reports.
The formation serves within the 11th Mykhailo Hrushevsky Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. The unit was established on the initiative of a member of Ukraine’s Bulgarian community from the Mykolaiv region, where a large ethnic Bulgarian population lives. According to Bessarabian Front, the group represents both the Bulgarian community’s commitment to Ukraine and the cooperation of different ethnic groups in defending the country’s independence.
The video highlights the daily work of the unit’s unmanned aerial vehicle operators, whose responsibilities include reconnaissance, target detection, and providing real-time intelligence to Ukrainian forces operating on the ground.
Before every mission, the crew prepares within minutes by inspecting the equipment, establishing communications, and confirming the planned flight route and target coordinates. Once cleared for launch, a fixed-wing drone takes off to begin its assignment.
