Both are chasing leaders Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, who have scored eight goals each. When asked who the better striker is, Kane -- who won the World Cup Golden Boot in 2018 -- diplomatically sidestepped the question."Impossible one for me to answer. First of all, I think we're completely different players almost. I know we're both senior strikers, but we play almost two different positions," Kane told reporters on Friday."I see myself as a different player, although I score the same goals. I like to maybe touch the ball a little bit more, but I can also play as maybe the out-and-out nine."The 32-year-old was full of praise for his rival, however."Erling has been incredible. Physically, he's a machine, he's a beast. His finishing is at the highest level and obviously his goal scoring record speaks for itself," Kane added."I respect him a lot as a player, as a fellow professional. Obviously, hoping he has a quiet day tomorrow, but I think his overall performances over these recent years speak for themselves. He's a fantastic player."Despite the individual accolades within reach, Kane insists team success remains his priority."My main goal is to win the World Cup with England, not the Golden Boot," he said."But I also know I'm the goalscorer. I'm the number nine. So if I'm scoring goals, it's obviously going to help the team."Sun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:44amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:44amFour players on a booking for EnglandBy Henry HansonDefenders Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly and midfielders Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham are all one booking away from being ineligible for a prospective semifinal clash.Norway's only player to be booked in the knockout stages and at risk of suspension is attacker Andreas Schjelderup, who will not start today's game. All yellow cards will be wiped ahead of the semifinals.Sun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:42amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:42amBos to miss three months through injuryBy Henry Hanson(Getty Images)Australia left-back Jordan Bos will miss the first three months of the new season for club-side Feyenoord after a knee injury at the World Cup.In a statement on Sunday, Feyenoord said Bos underwent successful surgery on Saturday. His left knee was in a brace after he went off having been clattered into during the first half of Australia's last-32 loss to Egypt on penalties in Dallas on July 3.The 23-year-old started all Australia's matches at the World Cup, having overcome a run of serious hamstring injuries to earn a move to Feyenoord where he scored four goals in 36 matches in his first season after moving from Westerlo in Belgium.ReutersSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:40amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:40amMiami is hot, hot, hotBy Amanda ShalalaThe US National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory warning for Miami today. While the current temperature is 32 degrees, the “feels like” will reach up to 42 degrees. It’s also extremely humid, and there’s a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon too that could impact the game. It’s not the first time we’ve had such extreme conditions at this tournament, but it's still so sapping for the players, and could be dangerous for the fans attending too.Our climate reporting team has this excellent deep dive on how the heat has impacted this year’s tournament.Sun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:37amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:37amHaaland is everywhereBy Amanda ShalalaErling Haaland has got to be one of the most meme-worthy people on the planet right now. He’s a superstar on the pitch, we all know that, but his social media presence has attracted way more non traditional football fans too.People particularly love to find unusual Haaland lookalikes, so it made sense to have a contest in Miami ahead of the game today. Most of the contestants were locals, but the winner was Norwegian and really committed to the bit, chugging a 3L bottle of milk and tearing into a steak throughout. In very hot, humid weather. It was as gross as it sounds, but it earned him a free ticket to the game, so probably worth the sickness that will likely follow. The winner having his steak and eating it too (ABC Sport)(ABC Sport)(ABC Sport)(ABC Sport)Key EventSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:35amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:35amTwo changes for EnglandBy Henry Hanson(England FA X)Two changes for Thomas Tuchel and the Three Lions. We knew there would be a change at right back, with Jarrell Quansah handed a two-match ban for his straight red card, and it looks like Ezri Konsa will move from the centre of defence to right back.John Stones comes in at centre back.Further forward, Bukayo Saka drops out as he continues his struggle for full fitness, with Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke coming in on the right wing.Key EventSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:31amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:31amOne change for NorwayBy Henry HansonNorway boss Stale Solbakken makes one change to the side that downed Brazil 2-1 in the Round of 16, with Andreas Schjelderup coming in to replace Antonio Nusa on the left wing. The industrious midfield three of Sander Berge, Patrick Berg and Martin Odegaard continue, while it is, of course, Erling Haaland leading the line.Key EventSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:20amSun 12 Jul 2026 at 6:20amGood morning!By Henry HansonThe final day of quarterfinal action is upon us, with Erling Halland's Norway and Harry Kane's England facing off in a titanic clash in Miami, before Switzerland searches for an upset over Lionel Messi's Argentina in Kansas City.My name's Henry Hanson, and along with Amanda Shalala on the ground in Florida, as well as a very nervous Simon Smale, I can't wait to bring you all the action.Let's go!Email address
