The rift between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceXAI head Elon Musk continues to grow.Altman accused Musk of misleading public investors with the company's planned space-based data centers, after Musk said that the OpenAI boss "takes scamming to a whole new level."The two billionaires have traded barbs and lawsuits after falling out following the formation of OpenAI. Musk was one of a number of co-founders of OpenAI and helped fund it when it was fully non-profit, but split from the organization when it pivoted to for-profit.He has characterized its for-profit shift and investments from Microsoft as a scam, although it was revealed to have pushed for such a move, albeit instead as part of Tesla.He later launched his own rival generative AI business, xAI, which this year was folded into SpaceX. In June, the combined company went public for more than two trillion dollars, partially on the promise of data centers in space.The company has promised to launch up to one million compute satellites, with the first 'AI1' satellite design supporting peak power levels of up to 150kW. While xAI has successfully leased its terrestrial data centers to Anthropic and Google, its satellite plans remain controversial and untested."Homeboy you're the one selling public market investors on short-term space data centers," Altman claimed.
