Every year around November, I'd find myself squinting at a printed calendar trying to figure out how to stretch my remaining PTO into long weekends. "Wait, is Veterans Day observed on Monday this year?" I'd ask my coworker, who shrugged. Half the time I'd book a flight and realize too late that the holiday fell on a Tuesday, not a Monday.
That frustration is what pushed me to build Public Holidays Hub.
The idea was simple: one place where you can see all US federal holidays for any year, with the actual observance dates, long weekend opportunities, and state-specific holidays. No pop-ups, no paywall, just a clean calendar.
A few things I added that I wish I'd had years ago:
Long weekend planner — the site highlights which holidays create 3-day or 4-day weekends, so you can plan PTO around them. Christmas on a Thursday? Take Friday off and you've got a 4-day stretch.
