Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has given fans an update on her radiotherapy journey, months after revealing she has been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer19:31, 11 Jul 2026Beverley Callard has shared a new update about her cancer battle as she continues her radiotherapy treatment.‌The actress, known for her role as Liz McDonald in Coronation Street between 1989 and 2020, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer, which led to her withdrawing from the I'm A Celebrity...South Africa series. The 69-year-old shares regular updates with her 317,000 followers on Instagram, informing her fans about her treatment progress.‌This weekend, Beverley shared a short clip while outside the hospital, revealing she is now over half way in her radiotherapy journey. "Sitting in the garden outside St Luke's Hospital," the Corrie star, wearing a leopard print jumpsuit said. "Just finished number six. Over half way!"‌She then shared a clip of herself sitting on her sofa with one of her Giant Black Russian Terriers next to her and the other on the floor in front of her. "I just wanted a bit of peace," Beverley said, before her husband said from behind the camera: "They are ridiculous. For starters, they shouldn't be on the sofa."Smiling, Beverley replied: "I know, but they missed me." The latest update comes just a couple of weeks after Beverley, who relocated to Ireland with her husband so she could play Lily Patterson on the RTE soap Fair City earlier this year, said she felt "on edge" as she returned to work amid her cancer battle.‌She said in a video: "First day back at work. I've just arrived. Jon brought me in for the first day. I have to tell you - it's like first day back at school. I'm really nervous and on edge but nicely so. I will let you know how it goes."In the same clip, Beverley was seen back at home after the day was done and was very positive about how the whole thing had gone. She said: "Home from first day back at work. Do you know what? It was fantastic! As I said before, first day of term - this is scary! But as soon as I was in there, you just feel like you'd never been away.‌"It was really good. Everybody was so pleased to see me and I was so pleased to see them. We laughed a lot. We got the giggles, Emily and I, who plays my daughter, we can't help it. So that's really good - just fantastic. Very early start tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to, but there you go!"Following surgery to remove the cancer in April, Beverley received positive test results indicating a low aggression level. She has faced recent logistical hurdles to schedule her required radiotherapy due to her recent relocation.Beverley first revealed news of her diagnosis in February during an appearance on RTE's Late Late Show, and explained that she received the diagnosis just minutes before she was due on set for her new soap role. She said: "I've had some tests just before I left the UK, and literally, 15, 20 minutes before I was in my dressing room at Fair City, getting ready to go on, and I was quite nervous and thinking, 'I hope everybody thinks I'm all right,' whatever.Article continues below"And my consultant rang me and said, 'You've got to come back to the UK.' I said, 'Well, I can't possibly, I've just taken a new job.' I said 'I'm away for a month,' and I was diagnosed with breast cancer. But I'm fine, I'm absolutely fine. My head was a bit mashed for the first few days. It's very early stages, and I'm along with thousands of other women as well."Like this story?
