Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president B. Manickam Tagore alleged on Saturday that the BJP was benefiting from National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) coaching centres.Participating in an anti-NEET meeting in Salem, Mr. Tagore said that since the introduction of NEET, parents have been spending lakhs of rupees at coaching centres. Out of 70,000 candidates passing the exam, only 13,000 were becoming doctors. He alleged that due to Union government’s poor administration, NEET question papers were leaked, especially in BJP-ruled States.Throughout the country, students are spending ₹1.26 lakh crore every year at NEET coaching centres. With this money, BJP is engaging in politics. There are no regulations for these coaching centres.Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi had termed the NEET a scam and wanted to scrap this exam. The BJP government’s education system only benefits the rich. The Prime Minister does not understand this issue, Mr. Tagore added. Published - July 11, 2026 09:54 pm IST
