The Department of Posts will introduce extended service hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mangaluru Head Post Office (HPO), with effect from Monday, to provide enhanced customer service and improve accessibility to postal services.In a statement, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mangaluru Division, Joseph Rodrigues said the HPO at Pandeshwar, next to Fiza by Nexus Mall, would offer a wide range of services during the extended hours, including Speed Post and parcel booking, domestic and international parcel booking, Aadhaar enrolment and updation services, and Post Office Savings Bank services.Customers can invest in various small savings schemes, namely Sukanya Samriddhi, National Savings Certificate (NSC), Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP), Monthly Income Scheme (MIS), Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS), Time Deposits (TD), Public Provident Fund (PPF) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha schemes, at their convenience. However, the extended-hours evening postal banking service will not be available for Standardised Agency System (SAS) agents and Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojona (MPKBY) agents, the statement said.Mr. Rodrigues said a dedicated international booking counter, operated by trained personnel, is available to assist customers with customs-related documentation and procedures, making overseas parcel booking simple and hassle-free. In addition, exporters and online sellers can also avail themselves of the services of Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (DNK) for the booking and transmission of export parcels and e-commerce shipments to customers across the globe. A parcel packaging unit is also available at the HPO to provide safe and secure packaging of parcels.Senior Postmaster M.
