District and Sessions Judge M. Babitha has sentenced 23-year-old Dola Lakshmana Rao to life imprisonment for the murder of his father and stepmother at Bondapalli village in Vizianagaram district in 2024.According to a press release issued by Superintendent of Police A. R. Damodar, the court also imposed a fine of ₹2,000 on the convict. The prosecution said Lakshmana Rao had nurtured a grudge against his father and stepmother, alleging that they had subjected him to ill-treatment since childhood and forced him to leave the family home in the SC Colony of Bondapalli. His father had remarried after the death of his first wife. Driven by resentment over the alleged abuse, Lakshmana Rao murdered the couple with a sharp-edged weapon.Public Prosecutor Gedela Satyam argued that the crime warranted the maximum punishment, contending that killing one’s parents over alleged ill-treatment would send a wrong message to society. Accepting the prosecution’s arguments, the Judge awarded life imprisonment.Mr. Damodar appreciated the investigation carried out by the then Bondapalli Circle Inspector G. A. V. Ramana and Sub-Inspector K. Lakshmana Rao, commending them for collecting crucial evidence and securing the conviction in the sensational double murder case. Published - July 11, 2026 06:40 pm IST
