Russia has temporarily suspended shipping through the Azov-Don Canal amid attacks by Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, Reuters reported this, citing sources.
The source stated that Russian border guards informed shipping companies that, starting at 6:10 p.m. local time on Friday, no applications for passage through the Kerch Strait, which connects the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, would be accepted. The border guards are under the authority of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB).
It is not specified when the restriction will be lifted.
Russia’s leading grain-producing regions, the Rostov and Krasnodar regions, are located along the Sea of Azov. The country’s second-largest port in the Black Sea region is located in the Kerch Strait.
