Born into a family of theatre artistes, Mano was exposed to music and acting from a very young age. He has a strong grounding in Carnatic music, having trained under Sangita Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishnamurthy. Following the advice of maestro Ilaiyaraaja, he chose to devote himself entirely to singing and gave up acting.
