Cape Town fraudster's 15-year sentence upheld for duping car dealership.

The Western Cape High Court in Cape Town has dismissed an appeal by convicted fraudster Mark Bezuidenhout, confirming his effective 15-year prison sentence after finding that the punishment was justified by the seriousness of his offences and his history of similar crimes.

Acting Judge Anderssen, with Judge Pangarker concurring, ruled that the Paarl Regional Court had correctly exercised its discretion when sentencing Bezuidenhout for fraud and money laundering.

The court found no basis to interfere with the sentence, concluding that it was neither excessively harsh nor disproportionate to the offences committed.

The case arose from a fraudulent vehicle transaction in June 2022.
