Harry Kane was asked who is the better striker, him or Erling Haaland, ahead of England's World Cup quarter-final clash01:54, 11 Jul 2026Harry Kane insists there are clear differences between him and Erling Haaland - despite persistent comparisons.‌The England captain will go head-to-head with Norway's prolific marksman in Miami on Saturday as both strikers seek to fire their nations into the World Cup semi-finals.‌While Kane respects Haaland greatly, he was keen to make it clear there is more to his game than just scoring goals.‌He said when asked who was the better striker: "It's an impossible one for me to answer, first of all, I think we are completely different players because I know we're both seen as strikers but I think we play two completely different positions if I'm honest."Erling has been incredible, his goalscoring record, physically he's a machine, he's a beast and his finishing is at the highest level and his goalscoring record speaks for itself."I see myself as a different player, although I score the same goals, I like to maybe touch the ball a little bit more and be involved in play a little bit more but also, I can play as the out-and-out nine but I don't think it's one to compare ourselves.‌"I respect him a lot as a player and a fellow professional, obviously I'm hoping that he has a quiet game tomorrow but I think his overall performances recently speak for themself, he's a fantastic player."While Haaland has netted one more goal (seven) than Kane (six) at this World Cup, the Bayern Munich gunman has hit the back of the net an astonishing 73 times this season for club and country.‌In a show of his leadership and experience, Kane was also keen to remind listeners that Norway also have other threatening players in their squad, on top of the relentless Manchester City centre-forward.Kane added: "They're really well coached, it's our job to find weaknesses within the structure, they are riding this wave, they are confident and free."The 32-year-old also had his say on the electric Golden Boot race and whether he felt extra pressure to perform to keep pace with the likes of Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.‌He explained: "It makes it more exciting for the fans, for the media, people watch it to see the biggest and best players perform at their best level."In terms of myself, I don't think it adds any more pressure. It's exciting for all football fans to see us doing well. A lot of us are still in the tournament so from my point of view, I just try to do my best for the team."Get the latest World Cup news straight to your inbox by signing up to our Make Football Great Again newsletter now!Article continues belowJoin our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
