The Lagos State Government has said it would set up a board to investigate an an officer of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps over allegations of receiving N20,000 bribe from a suspected environmental offender.
The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on his X account on Friday adding that the officer has been formally issued a query.
LAGESC, commonly known as Kick Against Indiscipline, routinely enforces public order by detaining offenders—such as street traders, hawkers, and pedestrians who jump fences or cross expressways—in enforcement vehicles like the Black Maria.
Detainees are typically prosecuted in mobile courts for fines or community service.
