Content creator, Oreoluwa Osoba, popularly known as Oga Duke, has built a following of over 667,000 Instagram users by creating wholesome content with his dog, Duke. He tells Faith Ajayi about his unconventional niche, and other issues

At what point did you realise content creation could become more than just a hobby?

Before the world came to know me as Oga Duke, I was a very shy boy who mostly kept to himself. I grew up around a lot of pets, stayed out of trouble, loved playing video games, and spent a lot of time helping my mum in the kitchen. Even from a young age, my creative side stood out. I was deeply interested in movie scripts, storytelling and music, and my mum noticed it early on; to the point where she sometimes worried I cared more about creativity than finishing school.

Everything changed after I adopted Duke. Whenever my friends came around, they would watch how naturally we interacted and record videos of us. They posted them on their WhatsApp status, and people kept asking to see more. They were the ones who encouraged me to take content creation seriously. I uploaded our first video on YouTube and, within 24 hours, it had attracted more than 250,000 views. That was the moment I realised this could become much more than a hobby.
