Customers across sub-Saharan Africa are set to benefit from improved access to world-class welding technology, technical expertise, training and after-sales support following engineering solutions company Babcock’s appointment as the preferred partner for global welding manufacturer Lincoln Electric's products across the region.
The announcement coincided with the opening of Babcock's Welding Solutions Centre in Boksburg, Gauteng, on July 9, a dedicated facility designed to help customers improve productivity and welding performance through hands-on technical support, product demonstrations, applications testing and specialist training.
Plant Services MD Hendrik du Toit says the appointment will strengthen product availability, technical support and specialist welding capability for customers across South Africa and the broader sub-Saharan African market.
As Lincoln Electric's preferred partner in the region, Babcock will directly import and stock a comprehensive range of Lincoln Electric welding and cutting inverters, consumables, personal protective equipment (PPE) and welding generators for sale and redistribution throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
The objective, Du Toit explains, is to improve product availability while making Lincoln Electric's technologies more accessible, affordable and supported by local technical expertise.
