Prince Harry has had a torrid week since landing back in Britain. On Monday, he had to hastily look for a place to sleep after being told he couldn’t stay at Buckingham Palace. On Tuesday, he discovered he had lost his high-profile court battle against Associated Newspapers, causing speculation he is now facing a staggering £50million legal bill. And today, he was forced to go it alone at an event at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre after his wife Meghan pulled out due to security concerns, despite having landed in the UK with their two children.Inevitably, today's event was somewhat dominated by the fact Meghan wasn't by his side. But Harry did not allow it to visibly affect him and finally looked relaxed while surrounded by his fellow veterans, including pals, at the Invictus bash, which was organised to mark one year to go until next year's event.‌After a shaky appearance at another Invictus event on Tuesday, held shortly after he discovered the result of his legal case, the prince's natural and easy confidence was today back on public view.He briskly strode around the giant exhibition hall at NEC for around two hours, meeting and hugging competitors, taking part in events, including old pal Dave Henson, who won a bronze medal at the Paralympics in Rio just two years after competing at the Invictus Games. At one point Harry held what looked like a jovial video call with a former comrade from Sandhurst. He also rushed over to help a veteran who had fallen out of his wheelchair while competing in the event before helping to get him back into his chair. And he was seen roaring “yes!” in approval while cheering and enjoying competitors' heroic efforts. He also appeared to genuinely enjoy himself while taking part in some of the sports events set to grace next year's event, including pickleball, laser run and wheelchair rugby. And he was in truly vintage form while meeting TV presenter Alison Hammond, who greeted him with a huge hug following a difficult week.‌During a heartwarming and amusing chat, Harry complimented the This Morning star on her huge hooped ear rings and excitable nature before telling her how much he and his kids Prince Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, enjoy watching Junior Bake Off.When she asked about the kids and Meghan, telling him how proud they must be of him, Harry touchingly replied: "They don't tell me every day that they're proud of me. But yeah, I'm proud of them. They're proud of me. I love my family."The dad-of-two, 41, later had the crowd inside the arena laughing when he joked about how he had lost hair and aged since the inaugural Invictus Games, which were held in London in 2014. It was like watching a man, who just days ago appeared to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, be reborn.Despite apparent security concerns preventing Meghan from appearing, the only sign of alarm came when a Land Rover, which was parked up inside the hall for promotional reasons, began sounding loudly due to its security system sounding, before the disruption was quickly silenced.‌The duchess' appearance would have been a PR-boost for both her and Harry after a week both of them are likely to want to forget. But despite everything, it was clear Harry at last looked at home.
