Officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the State government’s elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) jointly destroyed about 767.5 kg of ganja and four litres of hashish oil at the Ramky Pharma City incineration plant at Thanam village in Parawada mandal of Anakapalli district, on Friday.According to officials, the narcotic substances had been seized in six different cases from various parts of the State. The disposal process was carried out under the supervision of EAGLE Superintendent of Police G. Swaroopa Rani and NCB Zonal Director Pankaj Kumar Dwivedi, NCB Superintendent Rajan Kumar, and others.Officials said the operation was part of the State government’s ongoing efforts to make Andhra Pradesh free of narcotic drugs and to protect the youth from substance abuse. All the seized narcotic substances would be destroyed periodically after obtaining the necessary permission from the court. They also reiterated that stringent action would be initiated against those involved in drug smuggling.They added that the NCB and EAGLE would continue to conduct inspections, enforcement drives as part of the sustained efforts to curb the illegal drug trade.
