The world No.1 did not perform badly over the first two days at The Renaissance Club as he hit rounds of two-under and two-over par.However, the projected cut-off is at two-under par, with Scheffler currently above the required score. The 30-year-old looked likely to make it, but after bogeying the par-3 ninth, he fell below the cut-off line.Via Golf Channel, he said: “The eighth hole, I hit the fairway and I’m in a divot, and then the ninth hole, felt pretty solid — just dies. Overall, just not quite good enough.”The last time Scheffler missed a cut was at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, which was a staggering 78 events and 1,428 days ago.Scheffler has managed a consistently strong year so far, with his victory at The American Express coming alongside two T3S and four T2S.“I’m definitely proud of the consistency and wish I had a couple days over the weekend to make up some ground.JOIN US ON FACEBOOK! All the best sports news and much more on our dedicated Facebook page“It’s funny. last year, I feel like I got really frustrated on this golf course playing some good golf and just not really able to get anything going as well,” he said. “You know, then I went and played well at The Open Championship."[This tournament is] suiting me well over the years, but like I said, I haven’t played well here but I’ve played pretty well at The Open.“So it’s always a balancing — it could be one of those things where you just get over jet lag, get used to new style of golf, new types of grasses, and maybe I just haven’t adjusted as quick, or maybe this golf course just doesn’t suit my eye much.”Having missed the cut, Scheffler has an extra few days to prepare for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, which kicks off next Thursday.Scheffler stated: “I’ll get down there a little earlier than I thought I would and have a couple extra days on the course to prepare.”The American is on the hunt for his first triumph at a major golf tournament since May 2025. He was second to Rory McIlroy at the Masters this year before finishing T14 and T4 at the PGA Championship and US Open, respectively.The latter tournament is the only one of the four major titles he is yet to win, with Scheffler now looking to bounce back immediately from his surprise early exit in Scotland and repeat his heroics from last year next weekend.
