A successful career in finance is prestigious, lucrative, and famously hard to come by. But for some women, leaving the job to make social media content has paid off, reports Gabrielle Ng for Bloomberg. There’s a real appetite for content pulling back the curtain on what it takes to make it on Wall Street, meaning some creators rack up hundreds of thousands of followers and pull in more income than they did in their banking jobs. “They can reach a much wider audience that they can monetize than in finance, where you have a really linear career path,” Ng said. “Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal spoke with Ng about why women in finance are leaving their jobs for careers in social media.
