The Jana Sena Party (JSP) has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of using social media activists to spread caste and religious discord, and politically target Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan.Addressing a press conference at the party’s central office on Friday, Rajole legislator Deva Varaprasad and A.P. Mala Welfare Cooperative Finance Corporation Chairman and party State general secretary Pedapudi Vijay Kumar alleged that social media influencers Jada Sravan and YouTuber Joseph Ravan had been working with the tacit support of the YSRCP.Mr. Vijay Kumar said that the YSRCP’s decision to provide legal assistance to Mr. Ravan, who is currently in judicial custody, exposed its association with him. After losing power, the opposition party had been using these influencers to defame Mr. Pawan Kalyan, insult Hindu deities, and incite caste and religious tensions, the JSP leader alleged.Accusing the YSRCP of attempting to exploit caste and religious divisions for political gain, he urged the Dalit and Christian youths not to fall for such politically motivated campaigns.Hindus and Christians had traditionally coexisted peacefully, he added. Referring to the ‘Dalit Christian Shankharavam’ held in Eluru recenlty, Mr. Vijay Kumar alleged that it was aimed at criticising Mr. Pawan Kalyan, rather than addressing issues concerning Dalits and Christians.Referring to the allegations against Mr. Pawan Kalyan’s assets, Mr. Varaprasad said the Deputy Chief Minister had disclosed all his assets in the election affidavit and transparently shared the party’s financial details with its cadres.
