The stage is set for one of the biggest celebrations in East African music as Tanzania marks 30 years of Bongo Flava, with Kenyan music stars Jua Cali and Nyota Ndogo among the regional artists expected to grace the landmark event.

The anniversary celebrations will take place on July 10 at Mlimani City in Dar es Salaam mjini, bringing together pioneers, current chart-toppers and music lovers to honour the genre that has shaped Tanzania's cultural identity and become one of Africa's most influential musical exports.

The event is expected to showcase the evolution of Bongo Flava while highlighting its impact beyond Tanzania's borders.

The inclusion of Kenyan artistes showcases the close musical ties between Kenya and Tanzania, with Jua Cali and Nyota Ndogo having enjoyed successful collaborations and a strong following across East Africa over the years.

Ahead of the celebrations, Tanzania's Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, called on Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers, saying the occasion is about much more than entertainment.
