A 61-year-old Serbian passenger was partially sucked out of the broken window, reportedly up to his shoulders, and was held down by his wife and other passengers. Witnesses described a loud bang, followed by cabin depressurisation and the deployment of oxygen masks, around an hour after takeoff. The pilot returned the aircraft to Thessaloniki Airport, where the injured passenger was taken to hospital for treatment for friction burns and shock.
