Tokyo, July 10 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and his New Zealand counterpart, Winston Peters, on Friday agreed to beef up cooperation in the national security field. In December last year, the two countries signed an acquisition and cross-servicing agreement, which enables Japan's Self-Defense Forces and the New Zealand military to exchange fuel and ammunition. During Friday's meeting in Tokyo, Motegi said that he hopes to deepen bilateral relations, including coordination in the Pacific island region, which plays a key role in the Free and Open Indo-Pacific initiative.
