In June, at least 265 civilians were killed, and 1,816 were injured as a result of Russian strikes on Ukraine—one of the highest civilian casualty figures since the start of the full-scale war.

According to Reuters, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo made this statement to the Security Council, as reported by Ukrinform.

DiCarlo noted that in May, the number of civilian deaths and injuries was the highest since April 2022. At the same time, according to preliminary data from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, this figure increased in June.

“This concerning trend is seemingly continuing into July,” DiCarlo said.

She noted that in the past week alone, Russia launched three massive strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, targeting densely populated areas.
