Samoa’s athletes have completed their final pre-departure briefing ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the first members of the national team set to leave for Glasgow next week.
Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (SASNOC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tuala Mathew Vaea told the Samoa Observer on Friday that team Samoa was prepared and ready to compete.
A 39-member delegation, including 21 athletes, will represent Samoa in five sports: weightlifting, boxing, swimming, athletics and judo.
Chief de Mission Raema Von Reiche said the athletes would depart in stages to align with their competition schedules. The boxing and swimming teams will leave first, followed by weightlifting and the remaining sports.
Weightlifting will field Samoa’s largest contingent, with 13 athletes who qualified through international competitions.
