Ronnie Gabriel, a man who has climbed every rung of South African football, has finally landed a head coaching role in the top flight. No stranger to Richards Bay Football Club, Gabriel, who hails from Tongaat on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, served as the co-coach for the past three seasons. Now he has been appointed as the club's head coach, completing his rise from grassroots football to the very top. While Gabriel now sits among the top 16 coaches in professional club football, his journey has only just begun.
The 50-year-old has officially penned a contract with the Natal Rich Boyz for the upcoming Betway Premiership campaign, with the board including an option to renew the deal. To support him in this new era of sole command, Gabriel will be assisted on the bench by Siboniso Gumede.
The vacancy for the hot seat arose following the departure of former co-coach Papi Zothwane, who left the club at the end of last term to join Sekhukhune United. This transition hands Gabriel his very first opportunity as the solitary spearhead in the elite tier of South African domestic football.

Growing up in a modest household, his father, Gabriel Valavandrum, worked as a truck driver, while his mother, Shukuun Valavandrum, was a domestic worker.
