A fragile calm has returned to the Middle East after days of deadly exchanges between the United States and Iran, as regional mediators work to prevent a wider escalation and revive diplomatic efforts.

Washington remains committed to negotiations with Tehran, with technical-level discussions continuing despite the recent military confrontation. Regional countries, including Qatar and Pakistan, have been involved in efforts to bring both sides back toward dialogue.

The renewed clashes have severely affected shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, with traffic falling sharply and adding further pressure to energy markets already facing the largest supply disruption on record.
