MANILA, Philippines — Batanes and two other areas in Northern Luzon were placed under the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 (TCWS) as Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) maintained its strength on Thursday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Inday was last seen 780 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan as of 4 p.m. It slightly accelerated from its movement of 15 kilometers per hour (from the 11 a.m. bulletin) to 20 kph and was moving west-northwestward.
