He can be inconsistent, but he’s got skill. If his situation drags on, he might be willing to sign a show-me deal to prove last season wasn’t a one-off. On a roster that possesses the skill Toronto does, he could do much worse." Parsons added. Parson also believes that as the Toronto Maple Leafs have one of the NHL's most talented offensive lineups, playing alongside elite players would likely help Mantha produce points and rebuild his value.Again, former NHL goalie and now analyst Carter Hutton is of the opinion that teams are hesitant to sign Anthony Mantha currently because of his age and inconsistent performance in previous seasons. However, he thinks that Mantha may eventually accept a one-year contract to prove he can consistently perform at a high level. This would act as an impetus for him to secure a more lucrative deal next summer. Despite the concerns, Hutton believes that Mantha's playmaking skills and scoring ability will make him sign with an NHL club this offseason.Reports suggest that the Maple Leafs have already added depth pieces this offseason, but they still lack one proven scorer to complement their core forwards. This could be provided by Mantha because of his size, scoring ability, finishing ability, and experience, adding a valuable secondary offense to the team.
