Chevrolet’s latest C8 Corvette already has the makings of it a hit.
One month into production of the 2027 ‘Vette and over a third of the examples built are the new Grand Sport variant. While not the most popular C8—that title still belongs to the entry-level Stingray—it does suggest there is plenty of interest in the premium model as it makes its debut this generation.
Early production figures have been posted to the C8 Corvette Owners (and Friends) Facebook Group, according to Corvette Blogger. The data shows that between June 9, when 2027 model year production began, and July 3, General Motors built 1,689 examples of the latest C8. Of those, 719 (or 42.5 percent) were Stingrays, 590 (34.9 percent) were Grand Sports, 241 (14.2 percent) were Z06s, 91 (5.3 percent) were ZR1s, and 48 (2.8 percent) were ZR1Xs. If you’re wondering why the data only goes up to July 3, it’s because that was the last day before GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant, where all Corvette production is done, closed for its annual two-week summer shutdown.
