Every summer, it seems that a new sunglass silhouette hits the zeitgeist in a way that makes you think every trend-setting celebrity has secretly conspired to add the same sun-blocking accessory to their rotation once temperatures hit 70 degrees (or 90 or 100…).
As we know, everything old is new again. And this year, oversized sunglasses of the ’70s and ’80s have become the most popular styles of the season. Just a few examples: Jennifer Lawrence in bug-eyed Diors during her frequent New York strolls; Rihanna partying at Hollywood’s Dot Dot Lounge, hiding behind Balenciaga’s mask sunglasses; and Rosalía, whose face-obstructing Balenciagas at the Los40 Music Awards, was the standout accessory of her custom ensemble.
