Granting Ukraine a license to manufacture anti-ballistic missiles for the U.S.-made Patriot air defense system would be a strategic decision that would strengthen the defense capabilities of the entire NATO Alliance.
Borys Tarasyuk, Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1998–2000 and 2005–2007, stated this during The Ihor Dolhov Program on Ukrinform's YouTube channel.
According to Tarasyuk, localizing the production of anti-ballistic missiles in Ukraine is one of the key topics in negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and allied nations, as Ukraine's greatest defense challenge today is the shortage of such weapons.
"I hope that the final outcome of these discussions and contacts will be the United States granting Ukraine a license to produce anti-ballistic missiles, particularly missiles for Patriot systems. I believe it is no coincidence that President Zelensky repeatedly emphasizes the need for such a license during his speeches and meetings," Tarasyuk said.
