The central bank yesterday raised its forecast for the consumer price index (CPI) growth to 1.93 percent this year, citing higher-than-expected inflation in the second quarter. In the second quarter, domestic CPI rose by 2.17 percent, while core CPI, which excludes fruit, vegetables and energy, increased 2.15 percent, the central bank said in a written report submitted to the legislature ahead of a meeting of its Finance Committee. The increases were slightly higher than its earlier forecast of 2.1 percent and 2.06 percent respectively, the bank said.
