‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ Singer Bonnie Tyler Has Died at 75

Bonnie Tyler has died, her family announced Thursday. The Grammy-nominated singer, known for her distinct gravelly voice and generational chart-toppers like “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero,” was 75. According to a statement posted to Tyler’s website and Facebook page, she died unexpectedly in a hospital in Portugal Wednesday night. The news comes two months after Tyler was first hospitalized in the Portuguese city of Faro, where she was living, for an emergency intestinal surgery. She was temporarily placed in an induced coma, after which Tyler’s family said their matriarch was “improving” and was expected to make “a good recovery.”
